Carl August Ameln (born 1967) is a Norwegian angel investor. He has an MBA from Seattle University and is the founder of the multi national self-storage company City Self-Storage. The company was sold to Selvaag Group in 2004. Ameln was the first external investor in the London-based car sharing company Streetcar. The company later changed name to Zipcar and was listed on Nasdaq in New York as a part of the Zipcar Group until it was acquired by Avis Budget Group. The company purchased Zipcar for about US$500 million in cash. Ameln was an early investor in Spark Energy Ltd. an energy supplier for tenants across the UK and works with letting agents. In 2011 Ameln founded LOVESPACE with Brett Akker. London based LOVESPACE offers storage and redelivery services in the United Kingdom. The company also provides operational and logistical support to small businesses by transporting equipment, storing archival documents and storing surplus stock. He has also, with businesspartner Lasse Hoydal, co-founded EuroBox Self-Storage, GardeTout and StoreBox UK. Ameln has been listed in the "Kapital 400" list since 2005 as one of the wealthiest individuals in Norway, and is today chairman and majority owner of First Risk Capital based in Oslo, Norway.
